Description:
Spring green fading to cream, bordered all the way around in briar roses — Mary at the ivy-hidden door in her coat and hat, key in the lock, painted in a round leafy medallion with a robin perched on top. A handmade coaster modeled after a little hardback, spine and all.
The robin was real. When a reader asked Burnett whether she had known the original of the bird in the story, she answered with a little essay called "My Robin" — about the English robin who kept her company in a walled rose garden in Kent. "I did not own the robin," she wrote. "He owned me — or perhaps we owned each other." On this cover he sits just above the door, right where he belongs.
