A Midsummer Night's Dream Coaster

Description:

A 1950s paperback cover in bright blue: a fairy queen in a flowing gown and, beside her, the man she's been enchanted into loving — donkey's head and all — inside a white wreath of flowers and fairies, with the title in block capitals below. That's the play in one picture: a summer night in a forest, a few mischievous fairies, and a love potion that lands on all the wrong people. A handmade coaster modeled after a little hardback, spine and all.

You've probably heard this play without knowing it. The Wedding March — the one that plays as a couple walks back up the aisle — was written for it. Mendelssohn composed it in 1842 for the three weddings that end the story, and it stayed in the theatre until 1858, when Queen Victoria's daughter chose it for her own wedding. Every aisle since has followed her.

Why you'll love it:

• A 1950s paperback cover in bright blue — the fairy queen, her donkey-headed sweetheart, and a wreath of fairies in white line art
• Handmade from reclaimed wood and shaped like a miniature hardback, printed spine and all
• Fully sealed with a semigloss high-performance top coat — condensation and spills wipe clean
• Felt feet on the back keep your table free of scratches

Perfect for: summer night owls, fairy-garden keepers, or anyone who has walked up an aisle to that music without knowing where it came from.

Details:

• Dimensions: approx. 4.25" × 3.75" × 0.5"

The kind of coaster you leave out on purpose.
