Description:
Sage green and dusk blue — Rat and Mole in their rowboat before a low yellow moon, willow fronds trailing overhead, moonlight rippling down the water, a moth drifting past the bow. A handmade coaster modeled after a little hardback, spine and all.
The scene on this cover is the birthplace of a phrase. On Mole's very first row up the river, Rat tells him there is "nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." The line slipped out of the book and into everyday speech — boaters even named their casual get-togethers, messabouts, after it.
Why you'll love it:
- A moonlit river cover in sage and blue — Rat, Mole, and the rowboat under the willows — in full color
- Handmade from reclaimed wood and shaped like a miniature hardback, printed spine and all
- Fully sealed with a semigloss high-performance top coat — condensation and spills wipe clean
- Felt feet on the back keep your table free of scratches
Perfect for: riverbank picnickers, slow-Sunday readers, or anyone who'd rather be messing about in boats.
