Romeo & Juliet Coaster

Description:

A rich red cover patterned like old wallpaper, with gold scrolls in the corners. The title sits in gold in the middle, with a dagger standing in for the last letter of Juliet's name and a small black skull beneath it. The author's name is at the bottom. The story: two teenagers from families that hate each other fall in love in secret, and it does not end well. A handmade coaster modeled after a little hardback, spine and all.

The most famous balcony scene in the world has no balcony in it. The play only says that Juliet appears at a window. The word "balcony" wasn't even in use in England when Shakespeare was writing. That hasn't stopped anyone. In Verona, the Italian city where the story is set, a balcony was added to an old house so that visitors would have one to look up at. And every year, thousands of letters arrive in the city addressed simply to Juliet. A group of volunteers answers every one.
