That young woman is Scarlett O'Hara, one of the most famous names in fiction. She was nearly called Pansy. Margaret Mitchell used that name through every draft, and only changed it a few months before the book came out. The writing took her ten years. She started it while stuck at home with a bad ankle, after her husband got tired of fetching her library books and brought home a typewriter instead. She wrote the last chapter first, and kept the finished pages in envelopes all over the apartment.
