Description:
A zip around wallet in faux leather, inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes — the detective's silhouette set against a dappled burgundy ground, with one of his sharpest lines on the back: "There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact."
The silhouette everyone pictures — the deerstalker cap and the curved pipe — barely comes from the books at all. Conan Doyle never actually put Holmes in a deerstalker; that came from Sidney Paget, who illustrated the original magazine stories. The famous curved pipe came from an American stage actor, William Gillette, who found it easier to hold while delivering his lines. The image is so iconic now that most people assume Doyle invented it.
