Description:
The Author Clock tells time through literature. Every minute of every day, the display shows a different quote — each one mentioning the current time. The library holds more than 13,000 quotes from over 2,500 authors across centuries.
Over time, it changes the small habit of glancing at a clock into a small habit of reading. No two glances are ever the same.
Featured in the Museum of Modern Art Design Store, the New York Public Library, and the Mark Twain House & Museum. Mentioned by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press, and the Chicago Tribune.
The body is solid white oak. The dial is polished brass, inspired by traditional watch crowns. The bezel is recycled ABS (a high-grade, durable plastic). The display is e-paper — paper-like, non-illuminated, deliberately restful to the eye. The library updates automatically over Wi-Fi. No subscription, no ads, no maintenance.
For a reader who has built a home around books, this is a rare object — designed to be lived with.
