gone-with-the-wind-coaster
Gone with the Wind Coaster

Description:

A bright yellow cover striped with thin white lines. At the bottom, a small scene of a woman in a wide hoop skirt with two gentlemen outside a columned house, and the author's name on a pale blue band. The title fills the top in tall brown letters. The story: a headstrong young woman in the American South, fighting to keep her family home through a war and everything that comes after it. A handmade coaster modeled after a little hardback, spine and all.

That young woman is Scarlett O'Hara, one of the most famous names in fiction. She was nearly called Pansy. Margaret Mitchell used that name through every draft, and only changed it a few months before the book came out. The writing took her ten years. She started it while stuck at home with a bad ankle, after her husband got tired of fetching her library books and brought home a typewriter instead. She wrote the last chapter first, and kept the finished pages in envelopes all over the apartment.

Why you'll love it:

A bright yellow cover with white pinstripes — the hoop skirt, the columns, and the tall brown title

Handmade from reclaimed wood and shaped like a miniature hardback, printed spine and all

Fully sealed with a semigloss high-performance top coat — condensation and spills wipe clean

Felt feet on the back keep your table free of scratches

Perfect for: old-movie fans, porch sitters, or anyone who has put a big decision off until tomorrow.

Details:

Material: reclaimed wood, handmade

Dimensions: approx. 4.25" × 3.75" × 0.5"

Finish: fully sealed, semigloss top coat

Backing: felt feet

A solid piece — modeled after a book, does not open

The kind of coaster you leave out on purpose.
